Nine days!  Doing better!!!

We had an awesome time when Harry and Lois visited.  Time just goes by way too fast.  Second-cousin Judy joined us, and later Third-cousin Michael joined us!  What a great day, and believe it or not:  The weather cooperated!  Is that good, or what?

Today I had one of the most fun days of my life.  My sister-in-law and nieces went out for AYCE Fish Fry.  Just one of those spur of the moment times that you cherish.  We went out to Allen's.  Allen is my Grand Nephew.  What a good kid!  It was just one of those special times that you will remember your whole life.  I posted pix on FB.  Hope you Guys can access them.  If not, let me know, OK?

We're looking forward to our Sunday out at The Buckhorn in Gordon Sunday.  It's been so long since we've been with our friends.  We REALLY miss the Antler.

Be in touch.  Let us know that you visited, OK?  God bless you.  Love ya, loi

August 25, 2010

Ten days!  Not bad, right?

We drove to Seneca in our car to surprise our Granddaughter Sarah for our Great Grandson Trevin's 1st birthday Sunday the 22nd.  We had such a fun time!  We took our time going, and just enjoyed our trip.   I'm going to post pictures on Facebook, search Leonard Gehl.  I love Facebook.  It's way easier to post pictures than this website.  Maybe if I knew what I was doing, it would help, think?

I've been enjoying my housekeeping at the Super 8.  I'm not putting in very many hours, but I know I'm helping out, so that keeps me happy.  Not a lot of money, but it is one of those jobs where you're on your own.  I like that.  Just get 'er done.

Looking forward to Cousins Harry and Lois coming Friday evening.  They will be with us all day Saturday to visit.  We will at my brother's house, and we'll be catching up on all the news.  You know how it is with family.  You don't get together very often and when you do LOOK OUT!  Everybody talking, nobody listening!  :)

Hope this finds you healthy and happy.  Thanks for stopping by.  Take care, and be ibn touch, OK?  God bless you.  Love ya, loi

August 15, 2010

Thanks for stopping by.  We've been busy this week.  I still don't have a computer, but Len's been generous, so here I am.

We have had a ton of rain.  Today we went to my brother's thinking we were going to help out by mowing the lawn.  Well, my sister-in-law had already been out and she had it done.  I did weed the planter at the light, and we just sat around a while and shot the bull.  There are a bunch of dead bulls out there on the lawn!  :)

I've got a load of jeans in the dryer.  I went to iron clothes for tomorrow, and found that I didn't have any to iron!  Yikes!  I've got two white loaves of bread in the oven.  They should be done in a few minutes.  Come by for a warm slice, OK?  :)

I didn't tell you that my high school class celebrated our 50th class reunion did I?  We had a night at a local pizza pub, The Shamrock, in So. Superior.  It's owned by fellow classmates.  That was such a great night.  I just sat back for a few minutes and listened to the conversation in the room.  What a buzz!  It was neat to see the 'kids' mingle instead of sittting around in their own little groups.  Pretty awesome.  Our dinner night Len and I performed.  It was sooo much fun.  We had some equipment problems that caused us both to be pretty uncomfortable, but that was resolved.  We ended up with a great night all in all.  I did a skit that my niece Sue sent to me last winter in an email.  I did "Patsy Cline's She's Got You".  I didn't make any mistakes.  I have to admit I was worried about that.  "All's well that ends well."  Right?

Take care and be in touch, OK?  God bless you.  Love ya, loi

August 8, 2010

Our friend Tom Nelson, owner of the Antler Inn lost his life in a motorcycle accident.  Our job at the Antler is cancelled for the summer.  Hopefully, it will reopen with new owners soon.

We're having the time of our life in northern WI.  We haven't been fishing for a long time, but we're making a plan!!!

Our computer crashed!!!  Len's company bought him another one, so we have access to the internet until ours is fixed.  Then we'll both have a computer.  We won't have to share!  How good is that?

I've started housekeeping at the Super 8 here in Superior.  I think I was cut out for that job.  I love it!  I agreed to help them out, because my niece, Terry, is the night clerk.  The tips are fun.  Whoever tips housekeepers?

Niece Sue is on a new chemo.  We're praying that it will contain the cancer, and who knows?  Maybe a cure is on the horizon, but that's in God's hands isn't it?

Take care of one another.  Thank you for stopping by.

God bless you.  Love ya, loi

Instead of getting better, I'm getting worse!!!  I thought that when summer came I'd have more time to spend keeping this journal up-to-date.  Yet again, I'm sorry.  Thank all of you who are faithful to check in with us.

Since June 21 we've been doing some very fun things.  I've seen my Doctor, and the cholesterol that was at 297 is now down to 207.  We're making progress, and I'm feeling great.  Back to my normal work-out routine.  I'm lovin' it!

July 1st we celebrated our 49th wedding anniversary.  We were light house keepers at the Two Harbors, MN Lighthouse.  It was sooo beautiful.  I took tons of pictures.  It is VERY difficult to upload pix to this website I'm sorry to say.  We ate dinner at Blackwoods Restaurant, drove up the North Shore and took pix of Split Rock.  That was very cool!  Had a Dairy Queen, and walked the pier.  We rented a Tim Conway Netflix movie.  Did we ever laugh...way too funny.

Walked the Relay for Life in Superior, WI on the 9th to raise $$$ for cancer.  It was great fun, and I want to encourage all of you to walk the RFL in your community.  It is a lot of fun, and the cause is awesome!!  My niece Susan came out to walk as a SURVIVOR.  She was pretty sore for a couple days.

Sue had her scan Friday the 9th.  We saw the Doctor Monday the 12th.  The news is not good.  The cancer is growing in her lymph nodes.  We appreciate your prayers.

We had our Campground party yesterday.  How much fun was that?  WOW!  We watched the sky all afternoon.  We thought we were going to get rained out, but instead the cloud cover saved us from frying!  We love Nemadji Campground.  If you're a camper, and if you're in Superior, WI, you really need to camp here.  Dick and Cindy are awesome hosts.

Take care of one another.  Thank you for stopping by, and consider joining us on Facebook, OK?  It's free, and it's soooo easy.  A great way to connect with family and friends.  God bless you.  Let us know that you've visited.  Our email address is:  lenandlois40@hotmail.com   If you join Facebook search:  Leonard Gehl

God bless you.  Love ya, loi

June 21, 2010

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!!!  It started out beautiful, and then the sky opened up!  Yikes!  I am on the run to get my clothes off the line.  Oh well, had to finish them up in the dryer.  I'm disappointed, because I washed my Teddy Bear today.  I really wanted to line-dry him, but it looks like he'll have to sit on the floor by the furnace vent.  It's 57 degrees, so the furnace is running.  I don't want that on the first day of Summer!  They're calling for rain all week, so there you are!

I checked the weather in Dublin.  Granddaughter Lindsey is having a great time.  Can hardly wait to see her pictures and get a blow by blow account of the fun she's having.  I wonder if she thinks about her time over there like I did when we went to Germany.  I'd never traveled, and I was somewhat surprised that the rest of the world was really pretty nice.  I thought that if I ever was lost in the world I'd want to be lost in Germany.  They were soooo friendly, and clean.  Wonderful memory.

We had a beautiful day for Father's Day.  After worship we went for a cook-out at my Brother Skip's.  If you're on Facebook search Leonard Gehl.  I've uploaded a ton of pictures.  We've been busy going to graduations, and just generally having a great time.  We're enjoying our new to us little car.  I call it the Little Black Bomb!  We're thinking that it's going to save us a ton of money over the long run, and it's just way too much fun to just jump in and run!  I'm lovin' it!

I'm so happy to feel healthy again.  Can hardly believe it!  :)  Thanks for stopping by, and do be in touch, OK?  Also, if you're on Facebook stop by our page:  Search Leonard Gehl.  Take care.  God bless you.  Love, loi

June 17, 2010

FINALLY!  I woke up this morning, and I actually felt human again!  How good is that?  Yahoo!  Yahoo!  Yahooie!!!!  I actually ran for about a half mile.  I've been walking for my work out since the angiogram.

We bought a car!  It's a little black 1999 Pontiac Grand Am.  We bought it from Len's nephew, Todd.  We didn't have a clue that we were getting a HUGE deal!  WOW!  AND everything works!  I'm loving it, because we can just jump and run.  We haven't had a vehicle other than our motor home since 1988.

We have a busy week coming up.  Tomorrow is going to be get ready...get ready...set...go!  I've got to make beans for Sunday.  We're going to be with my brother and his family.  Can hardly wait.  I need to bake bread for next week.  I'm loving my new convection oven.  In February I had soooo much trouble with it that I was afraid I'd spent all that money for nothing!  :(  Anyway, a load of clothes, cleaning the kitchen cabinets, and vacuuming will pretty much take care of my Friday.

Saturday we drive to Ramsey, MN to attend Len's great grand niece's graduatiion party.  She invited us way back in January, so we can't let her down.  Both of her great grand parents have passed, so we're kind of standing in.  It will be fun to enjoy a bit of family time.

Len and I have finally found a Relay For Life Team.  We have joined the WALKETTES team.   We are really happy about this, because we have finally found a home team.  Now, every year we'll be signed up.  If you'd like to sponsor us just send money!  :)  Make checks payable to The American Cancer Society.  We will be on the track after the luminary ceremony.  We will have 7 luninaries:
1.  Honor Sue Szewcik  2.  Memory Jerry Gehl  3.  Memory Betty Jacobson  4. Memory Andy Schier  5.  Memory Wendell Johnson  6.  Memory Darwin Roy  7.  Memory Barb David.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  Please be in touch, OK?

God bless you.  Love ya,   loi

June 12, 2010

Good Grief!!!!  How can I be soooo tardy???  I can't tell you how much I
appreciate that you care so much to check in with us.

I am black and blue.  Just below the site of the incision for the angiogram is sore.  I haven't went running, did my crunches, or weights since.  That does not make me happy, but I'll get over it.
I went to the skin doctor today.  All's well!  Thank God.  I had some weird skin things going on.  Yikes!

Thank you for checking in.  Thank you for caring.  Be in touch via email:  lenandlois40@hotmail.com

Here I am again!  So much to report.  The BonJovi Quilt is finished, and in the mail.  I'm aware of every single mistake, but I'm happy with the results.  After all, it is my first attempt!!

I ended up in the emergency room last night!!!  I sat down at 9 PM at my dinette to tie up the loose ends of my day.  The site of the incision of my angiogram hurt like the dickens!!  I went back to the bed and took my shorts off.  I was swollen like a balloon!!  I applied pressure, and had Len call 911.  I finally got home at 1 AM!!  Today I spent the day in bed!  Not my favorite thing, but I wanted to behave myself!!  They did an ultrasound to be sure that I didn't have an aneuryism.  I'm good to go tomorrow.

Tomorrow night we are going to Ashlie's graduation in Culver, Mn.   I have permission!  Ashlie is our Goddaughter.  She is a beautiful young lady, and we are sooo happy to be a part of her life.

I received my purse from Peggy yesterday.  It is beautiful!  I need to send her a THANK YOU via snail mail.  She is on "Tipper's Tribute Team".  If you'd like to support her let me know, OK?

Thanks for checking in. Take care.  God bless you.  Love ya, loi

May 23, 2010

Here I am again!  I have a couple of things on my mind today.  First of all, our friend and fellow musician, Peggy has been volunteering at Safe Haven animal shelter in Williamsburg, IA.  www.wesavepets.com  They are conducting a fundraiser that they are calling "Raise the Woof".   They need to move AGAIN, so they are raising money for a building of their own.  I wanted to help.  I bought a purse, and I don't even carry a purse!!  What is that all about?  Anyway, if you are on Facebook check out Joelle Brenneman Trieschmann page and click on photos, you will see 'purses for sale'.  They are beautiful.  If you order a purse please let Joelle know that you are a friend of a friend of Peggy's, OK?

The second thing on my mind is CANCER!!!  Len and I will be walking for Relay for Life  again this year July 9-10.  We would really appreciate it if you would sponsor our walk.  Our address this summer:  3132 E. 5th Street  #4, Superior, WI 54880.  We will have luminary bags that you can purchase and decorate for $10, $25, or $100.  We are walking in honor of my neice Sue, in memory of my dad Andy, Len's brothers Don and Jerry, my high school friend Betty, and our good friend Wendell.

We'll be looking forward to hearing from you.  Thanks for stopping by.  Take care, and be in touch, OK?  God bless you.
Love ya, loi

May 23, 2010

One week.  That's not too bad, is it??  We're just having WAY TOO MUCH FUN!

Spent Monday the 17th at the cancer center with Sue.  She couldn't have her chemo, because she has an infection.  As it turns out she is in the hospital this weekend with an intervenus antibiotic.  We visited her this afternoon.  She is amazing!!
My ventures with Tracy's quilt have come with a major glitch!  I've messed up the corners, and now I have to figure out what went wrong.  That just means I have to take all the binding off, and start again!  Ding! Dang!
I have an appointment for an angiogram Tuesday the 25th.  My cardiologist is looking at the dark image that's coming out of my nuclear stress test.  I have a left branch bundle block.  She was expecting a dark image, but I've got an extra dark image that she's not happy with.  I really don't think it's an issue, but keep me in your prayers anyway, OK?
It's time for me to get to bed...thanks for checking in.  God bless you.  Love ya, loi

May 16, 2010
I promised to bring you up to speed, so here goes!  My April post was dated the 12th.  The 13th we spent in the garage.  Our Granddaughter Sarah came by withTrevin.  He's such a cutie.  We stayed the night at one of our favorite state parks, Illini on the Illinois River.  We always pull in so we can see the river and the lights of Marseilles reflecting on it at night.  Beautiful!  On the 14th we did our work out.  On our run we saw 5 deer!  Is that awesome, or what?
On the 15th I woke up with pain between my shoulder blades!  Yikes!!  I took two aspirins and that didn't help, so I had Len take me to the emergency room.  They did all the monitor stuff, EKG, etc.  They kept me overnight.  Sent me home with some drugs, and told me to follow-up with a physician.  We drove to my brother's and got there just in time to have some of Joyce's delicious chili.  You guessed it!  Mmmmmmmmm!
The 19th I went with my niece and her sister to chemo.  We had a fun girlie day.  Sue is such a strong girl.  Only 54, and her wonderful attitude is absolutely infectious. It was a very long day.  Labs in the morning, ct scan, Dr. visit and finally chemo.  However, we did run over to the Red Lobster and enjoyed a really great lunch.  We were waited on by a friend who plays in a band in the Duluth area.  That was fun.
On the 23rd I visited Dr. Mookherjee, a cardiologist in Duluth,  I like her alot.
I don't think I mentioned that Tracy, our daughter-in-law, sent all of her BonJovi tee shirts with me to make her a quilt!  Yeah, me, make a quilt!  I've never made a quilt in my life.  I have to say I'm loving it, and have always wanted to get into quilting.  Since I've got this beautiful sewing machine it seems to me that now is as good as time as any.  It's taken a ton of time.  You may have noticed that I'm not on the internet as much, but that's OK.  I've got the blocks ready all pellon backed, and cut out.  I just need to learn how to do the border.  I love YouTube.  They have wonderful tutorials, and it's a good thing.  I'd never known that tee shirts by themselves would stretch and pucker.  Anyway, that's one of the reasons I've not been current with this journal.
On the 30th I went for my heart tests.  The echo cardiogram was so beautiful.  I asked if I could get a picture for my background on our laptop.  Needless to say, I didn't get one.  Darn!  They made me drink some stuff and took pictures of me in kind of an MRI machine.  I fell asleep.  The girls said that most people get really nervous, and I said even if something went wrong with the machine I wasn't going to be of any help anyway, so I might as well nap.  Then it was off to the stress test.  They had to do the nuclear test on me.  Now I'm radioactive!!!  Yikes!  It was a bit uncomfortable, but nothing that was too much of a deal.  The girls explained everything, so that made it easy.  I saw the results on the screen, and couldn't believe my eyes!  My heart looked like there were little hands clapping!  How sweet is that?  I remembered Isaiah 55:12 and 98:8.
Had a movie night with nieces Sue and Terry.  We watched a Bill Cosby comedy, it was soooo funny.
On the third we were on the road to Illinois.  Talked to Terry, my brother is losing blood in his bowel. That doesn't sound good.  Keep him in your prayers.
I had a wonderful Mother's Day.  Spent the day with Lance and his family.  Managed to get VERY spoiled!
Len had his physical the 11th.  Looks like he's good for another 10,000 miles.  I started the precolonoscopy potion.  On the 12th I had my colonoscopy.  All's well with me for 10 years!  Went to Lance's for overnight, and off to the garage...again.
Had a great visit with my Cousins at breakfast.  My Cousin Grace gave me a beautiful necklace that she's had for years.  She said noone in her family had a 'G' in their name, so she wanted me to have it.  That brought tears.  Catch you later...Len is dizzy, and he is driving!!!  Not good!!!

May 14, 2010

I've got a lot of explaining to do!  Contrary to popular opinion I'm still alive!!  It's been a very busy and nutty month!  I'm just guessing that you already know that!  We're on the road to northern WI.  Tomorrow we will have breakfast in Oregon, IL with my cousins.  Tonight we are camped out at Lowden State Park.  My Dad lived in Oregon 900 years ago!  I always feel sooo close to him when I'm here.  It's kind of weird in a way.  I just know that this is where he grew up, and he might have walked in the same path as I'm walking.  For sure he saw some of the same scenes that I see.
I promise that I will bring you up to speed...soon.
Thank you for visiting our site.  Thank you for caring.
God bless you.  Love ya, loi

April 12, 2010

Oh, Man!  We've had some awesome good times since I posted an entry 10 days ago.

Our breakfast visit with Heather, Charlie and Wyatt was really special.  We're going to be making a Valdosta stop come Fall and Spring as long as they're in GA.  Charlie will be in Afghanistan in November, so we'll miss him.  It was fun to stop and catch up on their lives.

I needn't have stressed over Nathan (5) and Sissy (3).  We had a blast!  We bought a plastic bat and ball for Nathan, and he just had all of us going!  What a fun little kid.  Sissy loved the bubbles, and it turns out that the BIG kids loved the bubbles too.  Bubble Bath has a whole new meaning!  Our son Lenny and granddaughter Bailey had the battle of the bubbles, and then they proceeded in baptizing one another!  It was a great time.

Ian's girlfriend Amy wasn't able to come with us this time.  We're hoping that we get to meet her on our November trip south.  She sure is a pretty girl...in her pictures.

We didn't see grandson Ethan this trip.  He's with Americorps on a Habitat build in New Orleans.  This is two years in a row that we've missed him.  :(  We're in touch via the internet, and he has a blog that he updates periodically.  I think he's better at his updates than I am!  In any case he's more interesting!!

I had my office visit, and we're on the way to Len's dentist appointment.  He broke a tooth, so it's fix-it time!  Hope that doesn't take long.  We need to see our insurance guy, and meet our granddaughters and great-grandson for dinner tonight.  I can hardly wait.  These weeks Spring and Fall are soooo special.

You Guys take care and be in touch, OK?  God bless you.  Love, loi

April 2, 2010

On our way to KOA in St. Pete.  Now we're on the trek north.  I always stress about the trip, but Len tells me it's just another job on the way!  He's soooo smart.

I'm getting excited about our visit with Charlie and his family.  Charlie is the grandson of our dear friends Kenny and Phyllis who have passed.  It's just so sweet to stay in contact with Charlie.  Kenny and Phyllis were soooo proud of him.  We met him when he was a little preschool kid so many years ago, but it seems like just a few weeks have passed.  Now Charlie has a little preschooler Wyatt.  How fun it will be to meet him.

Then Monday we're on our way to Lenny's.  We are planning on seeing them Monday night.  We're going to stay out at a campground on the interstate this time, and rent a car.  Tuesday we'll be eating lunch out with George, Tracy's Dad.  He's a hoot!  We always look forward to time with him.  Tuesday night we're taking Len and Tracy, our Grandson Ian and his girlfriend Amy, and our Granddaughter Bailey and her husband Nick out to eat.  We'll have a great visit.  Wednesday we're spending the day at Lenny's with Nick's little ones and the whole family.  That will be way too much fun.  I can hardly wait.  I love where Lenny and Tracy live!  I'm hoping that Nathan and Sissy warm up to us.  They've only seen us once last year at Nick and Bailey's wedding.  They weren't feeling very well that day either.  Wish us a safe and happy trip and visit.

We'll leave GA Thursday and get on the road to Illinois.  We like to stay over a couple of nights, so that we're not driving ourselves nuts out on the highway.  Time to regroup.  Monday I have a pre-colonoscopy office visit in Springfield, IL.  Oh well, we know what that means, don't we?  :(

We've got way too much planned that Monday.  Want to meet a friend in Lincoln, IL for lunch, make a stop and get our life insurance needs figured out, and visit with our Granddaughters, and our Great Grandson Trevin.  Tuesday Len has blood taken for his physical come May.  Finally, we're back on the road to northern WI.  We'll make some stops for breakfasts along the way with family and friends.

We just stopped and filled with fuel for the first leg of our journey.  You Guys take care and be in touch.  God bless you.  Love ya, loi

March 24, 2010

Today was THE day.  Lowe's Installer Chris was back with a brand spanking new convection oven, AND it works beautifully!  I was soooo nervous!  I thought I was stuck with am $800 clock, timer, and light over the stove!!  Yikes!  Anyway, the oatmeal cookies turned out perfect.  I also made a tuna casserole that was over the top delicious.  It was the sour cream and parmesan cheese!  Mmmmmm.  Just a Betty Crocker recipe that I hadn't noticed before.

I did get the privacy curtains washed yesterday, so I'm making progress with my spring cleaning.

Our toilet still has a clickety click sound that we have to address, but the valve seals.  That's a plus in and of itself.

We had the BEST visit with friends from Kansas at Four Seasons, our Saturday job.  It has been over 20 years, since we've seen Dale and Lois.  Check out the photo at the top of the page.  I couldn't get it inserted here.  Duh!  :(  One of these days I'm going to learn how to get it done.  I just don't know when.

Thanks for stopping by.  Let us know that you did, OK?

God bless.  Love ya, loi

March 19, 2010

Hello!  I'm back, and just nine days!  Is that a record or what?  It's been an interesting bunch of days too!

Remember we bought a convection oven February 27?  Well, next week we're having it taken out, and a new one put in.  Wish me...

I did finish the windows, but haven't made any progress on my other plans.  Hopefully, next week after the scheduled maintenance!  Yikes!

We bought a new toilet for our motor home two years ago, and the valve is not working, soooo we've spent a couple of days and about 7 hours at Camping World getting work done on that.  Have to go back again Monday.  We did get the monitor fixed for backing up, so that was a real plus.  :)

I didn't give blood I'm sorry to say.  I sure hope that I can find a blood mobile soon, because I'm ready to give blood.  I hate to not give as soon as I qualify.  Oh well.

Since I've written we've had 3 St. Patrick's parties.  First one at Timber Oaks in Port Richey.  What a beautiful room.  They really know how to have a party.  Lots of fun.

Wednesday night we were at Hide A Way in Ruskin.  We've been going there for many years.  It's always a real blast to 'know' the music that everyone wants.  My cheeks were tired from smiling!

Last night we played at Lakeside Village in Leesburg.  These folks are right on a lake, and the sunsets are awesome!  We didn't have a great crowd, but the crowd that was there was GREAT!  Lots of belly-rubbing music, lots of line-dancing, and lots of get down boogie!

Yes, we did a lot of the Irish favorites too!  What would St. Patrick's be without my
favorite, Galway Bay?

Tomorrow night we will be at Four Seasons in Largo.  We've been going there for quite a few years celebrating Canada Days.  The Canadians really know how to party.  Wish we could sneak you Guys in.  :)  We have invited friends from Kansas wintering in Florida to see us.  We haven't seen Lois and Dale for years.  We used to play in Kansas in the 80's, so it's been a year or two since we've seen them!

We have been soooo blessed to meet dear friends on the road over the years.  We really appreciate it that you stay in touch.  Thank you for stopping by.  Let us know that you did, OK?  God bless you.  Love ya, loi

March 10, 2010

Boy, have I been out of touch!  Yikes!

Just got 'home' from our job at Griffin Park.  We had a great crowd.  We sang Happy Birthday to Len.  I know, his birthday isn't until the 28th.  That's OK, he had a piece of cake and a couple kisses.  :)

We bought a convection oven at Lowe's.  They've had to schedule maintenance already because the thermostat isn't working!  We've had to spend time at Camping World getting work done, so our time has been spent in the shop!  :(  Oh well.

We've got a couple of days off.  Looking forward to getting some spring cleaning done.  I've done most of the windows.  I want to clean out the closets and under the couch and dinette.  Then I'll work on the ceiling and walls.  Hope to have all that out of the way by the end of next week.

Want to give blood tomorrow or Friday.  They're calling for rain, so I'm not sure I want to walk a half mile to the blood bank.  We'll see how that goes.  I love giving blood.  They've told me that they transfuse my blood to babies.  I don't know how they know that, but it makes me feel good to give.  The statistics are that 90% of people need blood in their lives, and only 10% give.  One of those easy things that you can do to actually save lives.  :)

Sorry that I've not been more consistent with keeping you up to date.  Do be in touch.  Take care.  God bless you.  Thanks for stopping by.  loi

I don't feel too bad.  Only a week and I'm updating you Guys.  Is that good or what? We've had a great week.  However, Len's trying to get over a cold that he managed to get from who knows where?  He's doing much better, and didn't have too much trouble working.  We did a morning show at Southern Pines in Frostproof Tuesday.  That was a lot of fun.  Different!  We don't often sing in the morning.

We did our first Thursday at Citrus Park Grille in Bonita Springs.  Now, that was fun.  We've been doing Sunday afternoons for several years.  We had the same faithful bunch of supporters.  Boy, without you Guys we wouldn't have a job!  Thanks!

Last night we worked at Sunshine RV Resort in Lake Placid.  We were disappointed that they didn't hold a time for us next year.  Oh well.  Easy come, easy go!!  Right?  Perhaps the following season.

Let us know that you stopped in.  Email us at:  lenandlois40@hotmail.com

Love you Guys.  loi

February 14, 2010         HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

We have the night off.  We're spending our day at Parakeet RV Resort in Lake Wales.  It's a special place.  We've played here in the past, so we have a bunch of good friends that we've been visiting.  Claudie and Shirley came over Friday night before Claudie took off for the Keys to her daughter's wedding today.  We had a fun visit.

Last night we performed at Tower Wood just north of Lake Wales.  It's a mobile home park, so we're not allowed to plug in or stay over on the property.  We had a super dance.  Our friends Kenny and Carolyn came to see us.  I love it when we can have friends with us.

We're looking forward to meeting Len's cousin Don and wife Joanne tomorrow for breakfast up at Winter Haven.  This will be the first time this year that we've been close enough to get together.

Take care of yourselves and be in touch, OK?  Let us know that you stopped by. Email us at:  lenandlois40@hotmail.com  God bless each of you.  Love ya, loi

February 2, 2010

We had such a great weekend.  Friday we were at Holiday Travel Park in Leesburg.  They allowed us to have guests.  Is that great or what?  Faye, Chick, Joanie and Ron spent the evening with us.  It is so much fun to have friends from 'up-north' with us.  Joanie reminded me that I should let you know that Kelli Lidell will be at Lost Isle, Carlton, MN Friday night.  She will be at The Log Cabin, South Range, WI Saturday night, and The Checkerboard, South Range, WI Sunday afternoon for a 'Meet and Greet' party.

If the name Lidell strikes a chord with you, maybe you will remember that Len's song "Take Some Love" was sang by Johnny Lidell.  Yep!  Kelli is Johnny's daughter.  She is a very talented young woman.  Her Dad would be soooo proud.  I know that we are!  For more information check her out at:  www.Kelli.com

Saturday night we were at Sesame Grotto in Lakeland.  It is always fun to meet new people, and work with courteous employers.  We had a pretty good crowd, and we look forward to going back next season.

Take care of one another, and do be in touch.  God bless each of you.  Love ya, loi

January 25, 2010

All's well with us.  We played at Toby's in Arcadia Saturday night.  Boy, that's a great job.  I think it was our biggest crowd, and did we have fun!  Looking forward to our bookings next season.  Seems like this season is going by way too fast already!

I thought we'd just played NYE, and we're already at the end of the month!  WOW!  Time flies when you're having fun.

This week we're off again, and we're spending our time at North Lake Estates again.  I love this park!  Len must too, because he's glad to be here.

We had some rain this morning.  Nothing to write home to mother about.  The temperature is 69, so it's really pleasant.  We've got it made!

Drop us an email:  lenandlois40@hotmail.com  Let us know that you visited our website.

God bless you.  Love ya, loi

I haven't forgotten you Guys.  I've just had problems with our website.  Don't know exactly what the problem is, but I'm going to give it another try tonight.

Griffin Park turned out to be just as much fun as always.  We've lost some dear friends...I hate that part.

We are enjoying our work in Florida, but we're down from other years.  People are not spending money on entertainment.  However, we're beginning to like the down time.  Must be kind of like retirement!  Think?

This week we have off we're staying at North Lake Estates in Lakeport.  We're both playing 'catch-up'.  I'm thinking by the end of the week my closets and cabinets are going to be sparkling.  Need to get under that couch and start pitching too!  Then I'm going to get some patterns and make good use of that sewing machine I bought last year.  I made the privacy curtain for the windshield, some backpacks for Bible School this summer, and some covers for our speakers.  I've got fabric, but just have to figure out what I'm doing with it.

All's well with us.  Please let us know that you stopped by, OK?  email us at:  lenandlois40@hotmail.com   Take care...be safe.  Love ya, loi

January 3, 2010               HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

We had the best NYE ever!!  Great crowd, great fun.  We were at a beautiful mobile home park in Clearwater.

We had a wonderful Christmas.  We went to a Christmas Eve Party.  I won a 2 qt. Crock Pot, Len won a utility knife, and we exchanged gifts.  Fun.  We really missed going to worship.

We exchanged gifts Christmas morning.  Len was happy with his new running suit, and I was delighted with two sets of necklaces and earrings.  :)  Awesome.  I always think of how my granddaughters are going to enjoy this beautiful jewelry.  I know I'm enjoying it now!

Christmas Day we went to dinner at North Lake Estates.  The food was delicious.  I took cole slaw.  I found a wonderful recipe online.  I went to McCormick's website, and found "Quick Slaw".   They have a treasure trove of recipes.

Today we went to the mall.  I had to exchange pajamas that were too small, and Len had to exchange slacks that were too small.  Oh well.  Then I just happened to stop at "Rainbow".  I found 3 tops that I couldn't leave without!  I needed some work tops.

We ate at "Longhorn's".  Awesome steak!  Now, it's down to business to lose the 4# I've gained over Christmas.  Not a problem, as long as I have great memories!

Looking forward to Wednesday's job at Griffin Park.  It's a really small rec hall, but the friends we entertain there have been friends since 1992.  So much fun.  Hoping that the sales clerk from "Rainbow" will come.  We had a great visit.  It'll be a time warp for her!

You Guys take care of yourself.  Thank you so much for visiting our website.  Let us know that you stopped by.  Email us at:  lenandlois40@hotmail.com

God bless you.  Love ya, loi

Ready for Christmas!  Yahoo!  Yahoo!  It's even very cool here in Florida.  Everybody is wearing their sweaters.  (It's 50 degrees.)   We worked at Pioneer Creek in Bowling Green, FL Saturday night.  We had a blast!  Finishing off a really busy week.  Now we've got 6 days off.

Yesterday I woke up sneezing, puffy face and nose!  Ish!  Didn't go to worship, but ended up feeling pretty good the rest of the day.  Thank God.  I sure didn't want to catch something before New Year's Eve, the biggest day of our year.

Today both Len and I played 'catchup'.  I'm not sure that we spoke two sentences to each other.  He was busy 'taking off' a school project, and I made business calls, studied spreadsheets, sent birthday cards, and balanced our bank statement.  Yikes!

Looking forward to tomorrow.  We go shopping, get my nails done, and go out for the evening.  :)

If you've stopped by, do email us to let us know:  lenandlois40@hotmail.com  Subject your email with:  Len and Lois Website.  We love to hear from you.  Take care of yourself, and may GOD BLESS YOU WITH THE BEST CHRISTMAS OF YOUR LIFE!!!   Love ya, loi

December 13, 2009

Well, we've finished up our week at Citrus Park.  We had Brunch this morning at the Citrus Park Grille.  It was fabulous!  I loved the Biscuits and Gravy...especially the gravy!  :)  I also had an omelet!  Oh yes, they took all of the calories out of it!  Bob and George assured me that there were no calories in the home made cinnamon roll either!  I'm going to have to run an additional mile tomorrow!  Oh, but it was worth it.  I can hardly wait until we come back January 10.

We've got a couple days off to play 'catch up'.  We're done with Christmas, but I did get 3 cards back, so have to resend.  That won't take a minute.  What I'm working on now is my iTune account.  It doesn't recognize my password, so I'm working with customer support.  Yikes!  That's not going as smoothly as I'd like.  Oh well.  They're just saving me money!

Hope that your Christmas plans are coming together.  Be in touch, OK?

We're at Okeechobee tonight.  Always a great job.  We've got El Nino storms coming across Florida tonight.  Yikes!

I failed to tell you that our Grandson Ethan ran and completed the Thanksgiving Marathon in Atlanta.  We are soooo proud of him.  He's an inspiration to our family.  He was going to join Peace Corps, but decided to work with Americorps after graduation from GA Tech.  Looks like he'll be going back as a Team Leader 2010.

Also, our Great Grandson Trevin was baptized Sunday.  We miss out of so much.  Sometimes that's a hard thing, and this just happens to be one of those times!

We look forward to your comments.  Just email us at lenandlois40@hotmail.com  Let us know that you visited and put our website in your subject line.

Take care and thanks for visiting.  God bless you.  Love, loi

November 28, 2009

Well, I sure hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  We enjoyed out time at Leisure Days in Zephyhills.  What a precious tradition.  Check our schedule, we're back in 2010...Lord willing.  Also, we had a great time at Country Aire Village.  We didn't have a really big crowd, but we sure had a lot of fun.  Seems like every year we come to Florida we lose some of our friends, and make some more.  Last night was no exception.  Had a blast with a lady named Mary.  We had a great visit.  She is from Maine.  I told her that is one of my 'destinations' before I turn 100!

Today is kind of overcast and cool.  We're enroute to Arcadia, headed down Hwy. 17.  I love this laptop.  It works on battery, and since I saw our Verizon Guy click 'fn'/'f8'  I can see just fine without a blanket over my head!  Duh!

Hope everything is good with you Guys.  Do be in touch.  Just email us with Len and Lois website in your subject.  This internet thing is soooo super.  Great way to be in touch.

God bless you.  Hope to see all of you at some point in 2010.  loi

November 24, 2009

Well, here we sit at Camping World in Seffner.  The refrigerator is now working.  That's awesome in and of itself!  We're having our converter checked while the Guys go to lunch, and Len is picking up some shelf rails to fix my pan drawer.  He's also picking up water filters.  Camping World will make out very well today!  :)  Oh well.

Eric is working on our motorhome.  He is a really nice kid.  Reminds us of our grandson Ethan.  All young kids remind us of somebody.  Do you think it might be our age?  Yikes!  Eric told us about Andy McKee.  I checked out his website.  Really nice and relaxing guitar.  Check it out for yourself.

Take care of yourselves and be in touch, OK?  Love ya, loi

November 20, 2009

Last night we worked at Lettuce Lake Resort in Ft. Ogden.  That was about the fastest 3 hours we've worked in a long time!  How fun to be back to work in Florida.  Our friends Barb and Milt came to see us from Illinois.  Barb has been a fan since 1984, and Milt has been a fan since 1988!  They will be at Encore Harbor Lakes, Port Charlotte tomorrow night.  Good Friends. Good Times.  We are sooo blessed.

We're looking forward to meeting Myrt, Scott and Ellen for breakfast Sunday morning on our way to Seffner.  Myrt has been a friend since the late 70's.  Her husband Ted worked with Len at Hillside, IL.  Great Friends.  Good Times.  You know how we feel about that, right?

Thanksgiving at Leisure Days Resort in Zehphyrhills.  I've decided to bring coleslaw to dinner this year.  I've always brought a jello salad, but I found this great recipe online for "Quick Slaw" at the McCormick website.  If you haven't explored their recipes you need to check it out.

Take care, and be in touch, OK?  Love you Guys.  loi

November 16, 2009

Here we are in Florida!  We had a great time in Georgia with our Son Lenny and his family.  We were drenched by the remnants of Hurricane Ida!  We still had fun!!!

Saturday night we worked at Hitchin' Post in Naples.  That is such a fun job.  Love going there.  They are sooo generous, and such a fun bunch to work with.  We get some of our best promotional pictures at the Snowbird dances.

Be in touch.  We love you Guys, and look forward to your comments.  loi

November 1, 2009

We decided to stay an extra night at Sportmen's in Mahomet.  This park is sooo beautiful, right on Lake of The Woods.  The sunsets are spectacular!  Tomorrow we drive to Springfield for physicals.  Mammo time!  Yikes!

Tues, Weds and Thurs...AND then we're GONE!  Looking forward to a few extra days with our son and his family in GA.  Can hardly wait, but it's bittersweet leaving our youngest son and his family in IL.  Especially this year with Great Grandson Trevin in the mix!  He is such a beautiful baby.  Our family has been soooo blessed.  GOD IS GOOD!

Be in touch.  Let us know that you visited, OK?  Love ya, loi

October 30, 2009

Is it possible that the month has sped by?  Where was I?

We had a beautiful wedding at Pattison Park south of Superior.  My Grandnephew Allen married Tiffany.  It was sooo pretty in the lodge.  What great decorations.  Don't you love creative people?

We had some dental work done, and we had some work done on the motorhome.  We're ready for our trek south.  We leave November 6th.  Yikes!

Met my cousins in Oregon, IL for breakfast.  There weren't so many of us this Fall.  It was nice though, to find time to be together to visit and catch up.

We walked for world and local hunger the 18th in Seneca.  We also provided special music for worship at our home church.  We don't get there often, so when we do it's an occasion.

Had a busy week.  Topped it off going to Iowa to Ronneburg Restaurant in Amana.  We have some sweet friends out there.  Spent Sunday the 25th at worship at St. Paul's.  Our friend Peggy plays organ and keyboards.  We went out to breakfast and had some fun meeting her new puppy Patch.

We upgraded our cell phones and internet connection with Verizon.  What a difference!  Sometimes things just work out way too good.  More dental work.  Would you believe that I had to have a filling repaired, and my dentist did not charge me for it?  Less than two years!  Is that good or what?

We're in Mahomet, IL tonight for two nights at one of our favorite RV campgrounds.  We'll be here two nights.  Tomorrow will be a day of  "catch-up" for me...Len too!  Monday is physicals...oh yeah!!!  Mammo time...Yippee!

Thanks for stopping by.  Let us know by emailing us with our website info in your subject line, OK?  God bless you.  Love, loi

We're into our last week in northern Wisconsin.  This is always a bittersweet time.  I look forward to seeing our family in Illinois, but I will miss our families up here alot!  We've just had so much fun this summer.  Hard to believe that it is over.

We went out to dinner at old high schoolmates' home last night.  Delicious!  Beautiful home, and conversation.  Len and Dick enjoyed the studio, and the keyboards.  I loved Julie's home, quilts, and photos of her trip to California.  Her driving in the mountains took my breath away!  I've known Julie since the 6th grade.  Dick went to the same high school us girls did.  Really fun evening.  Then we came home, and watched the Vikings and the Packers.  Len wanted the Packers to win, so the Bears would share #1.  I wanted Brett Favre to win, and he did!  In a big way!!

I'm off to a busy day.  Hope everything is good in your world.  Let us know that you visited:  lenandlois40@hotmail.com

God bless each of you.  loi

September 24, 2009

Today we worked at St. Ann's in Duluth.  What a sweet bunch of people.  We had a great time.

We have a lot of fun plans before we head to Illinois.  Sunday we're celebrating little girl birthdays.  Monday we're going to Minneapolis.  On our way we'll visit our cousins in Hugo, MN.  We're staying over in Mpls.  Can hardly wait to see the city at night from Sister-in-law Arlean's windows.  Tuesday we'll stop to visit Len's cousin in a nursing home on our way back to Superior.  The next week Sunday we're back out at the Antler.  Monday, we've been invited out for dinner.  We're planning on going on a hayride Tuesday of that week.  We're hoping to be able to help Neice Terry and her husband clean house after the remodeling.  They have built on an addition to serve as hospice for Terry's sister Sue.

Soon it will be time to head south for the winter.  I'm always torn.  I love our Florida work, but I agonize about leaving our friends and family in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Thanks for stopping by.  Let us know that you visited, OK?  God bless you.  Love you Guys.  loi

September 19, 2009

Greetings and Salutations from Superior, WI.  The weather has been so beautiful.  Every year we make the decision to stay later in northern Wisconsin.  Every year we stress about temperatures, and living in a motor home this far north.  We've spent a great deal of our lives up here, so we're no strangers to what can happen in the fall.  Many years ago Len and I were in Cass Lake, MN camping.  Near the end of August we were getting frost in the mornings.  Now we're kind of hoping that we'll get a good frost so we can harvest the apples at Terry and Dave's.

Len and I have decided to join our friends and neighbors in Seneca, IL walking CROP Sunday, October 19th.  We'll be looking for sponsors, so get your wallets out! :)  Seriously, if you'd like to sponsor us send us an email to:  lenandlois40@hotmail.com  If you're in the area, join us!  Registration is at 1 pm at the Town Hall.   We will hit the I & M Canal Trail at 1:30.  It's only a 3 mile hike.

Tomorrow we're at The Antler Inn, Wascott from 5-8 pm.  The Antler is about 35 miles south of Superior on Hwy 53.  We have so much fun out there.  Just a great older crowd that likes to socialize, eat great food, and dance.  Hope to see you there.  If you can't come Sunday, put us on your calendar for Sunday, October 4.  That will be our last until 2010.

Monday is chemo run with Sue.  She had a pretty serious reaction to her chemo Thursday night.  We're still hoping that this chemo will work for her.  Sue's Dr. is researching clinical trials at Mayo, Rochester, MN.  Keep us in your prayers.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  We look forward to your emails, and appreciate your support.  God bless you.  We love you.  loi, and Len too.

September 14, 2009

Went with Sue to her chemo treatment today.  It went very well.  We'll see what the week brings...keep her in your prayers.  After chemo we went to the 'wig' room.  They tell Sue that she will lose her hair.  She's taken chemo for almost 2 years, and this will be the first time she loses her hair.  It was a blow.  She was looking forward to her son's wedding October 10.  After we spent a fun time in the 'wig' room she perked up.  Len and I took Sue and her sister out to lunch.  We always have such a great time together.

Terry, Auntie Lois and Sue

Tomorrow I'm looking forward to going to an all school reunion for our grade school.  Terry, Sue and I attended the same grade school.  That should be fun.  I'm really getting the 'girlie time'.  A shower Sunday, chemo run Monday, and luncheon Tuesday!  I haven't had that much 'girlie time' in years!  WOW!

Len's sooo happy that football is back.  He was very disappointed that the Bears lost to the Packers.  Tonight he's watching Buffalo and New England.  He'd like to see Buffalo win...we'll see.  Buffalo is ahead, but they haven't beaten NE for 7 years.

All's well with us.  We're enjoying the wonderful weather in Superior.  Hoping that it holds through the 10th of October.  Is that asking too much?

You Guys take care of one another.  Be in touch.  Send us an email:  lenandlois40@hotmail.com  God bless you.  Love ya, loi

September 13, 2009

I had such a blast today!!!  I don't often get the fun of participating in 'showers'.  Today I attended the 'shower of my life'!!!  My Great Grand Nephew ChiRho was born August 13th.  Is this a beautiful baby, or what?

Busy time in Wisconsin.  Tomorrow I go with my Niece Sue, ChiRho's Gramma, to her chemo treatment.  Keep us in your prayers.

Lots to tell you Guys, but it's almost 11 pm.  Need to get to bed.  Thanks for stopping by.  Email us, OK?  Love ya, loi

September 7, 2009

HAPPY LABOR DAY!

We had a great time in Illinois.

August 31, 2009

WE ARE GREAT GRANDPARENTS!!!!  Can you believe it?  Trevin Austin Timmons was born August 22.  He weighed in at 5# 4 oz.  He was 18".  What a sweetie!

August 20, 2009

The Gehl Family Reunion was sooo fun.  However, I didn't take many pictures.  Don't ask me why!  What a Dummy!  I've got this great little digital camera.  Duh!  Anyway the reunion was fun, and I'm sure we'll all remember our get together at Diane and Phil's.  There was lots of delicious food.  Phil sent the ham bone home with us and I fixed it with baby limas.  Boy, did that turn out good.  mmmmmmm.

We had a great crowd out at the Antler Sunday the 9th.  It's crazy how my graduating class supports us.  I was blessed to go to a small school with a bunch of great kids.  Speaking of high school...and we were:  I accidentally found out that an old schoolmate was scheduled to camp here at Nemadji while attending their 50th.  I'd remembered that I had a snapshot in my souvenirs, so I copied it for the office.  He loved it!  It was special to hook up after all those years.

Grandnephew Allen and Tiffany had a baby boy Wednesday, August 12.  They named him ChiRho Xavier Thompson.  He is really a beautiful baby.  (Sue and I stopped to see him after her chemo treatment the 17th)

We celebrated Grandnephew Jared's 18th, Sunday the 16th.  It's ALWAYS a great time out there.  Troy and Melanie have a house on a lake.  They also have 8 children!  Super bunch, I love our time together.  This year Len and I didn't play volleyball.  This year we didn't go fishing either, but we did read a contract that Jared and his friends are asked to sign.  They are a Christian Rock Band.  They've written some music, and have had it recorded.  Great Kids!  I'm hoping that they won't regret the decision they make.

Monday I went with Niece Sue to her scheduled chemo treatment.  It turned out to be uneventful, thank God.  Sue gave me the transcripts of her cancer history.  I had my work cut out for me!  No surprises, but I have a new appreciation for life, and for death.  I'm humbled by Sue's wonderful attitude.  Sue's sister Terry and husband Dave are remodeling their home for hospice for Sue down the road.  I tried to find some funding for them, but couldn't.  Dang!  Anyway the construction is held up for the last three days.  We are under a rain pattern.  Hopefully, things will clear up soon, so the work can get underway again.

My sister Ruth called Monday.  She is planning to visit Saturday, so we're looking forward to that.

Please let us know you stopped by.  It's fun to email chat with you Guys.  God bless you.  Love ya, loi

August 7, 2009

Here I am!  Doing just a tad better, not much, but some.  Think?

Len's sister and her husband are here from AZ.  We've been having a lot of fun.  Tomorrow we have a reunion planned in Brooklyn Park, MN.  That will be fun.  It's been a long time since we've seen some of our nieces and nephews.

I bought a little iPod.  It's been a challenge!  However, I've been putting some of my favorite music on it.  Peggy Wardenburg's awesome album "Endless Time" is one of my favorites.  Wish I could share it with all of you.  I've got Elvis' Gospel albums, and Neil Diamond.  Great music to ride bike to, and run.  :)

Take care of one another.  Thank you for dropping by.  Please email us your thoughts.  Love ya, loi
